I thought this was a joke. I kept expecting the record-scratch sound effect, and the real commercial to start. But no—this really is a product.

Sure it sounds great on paper: it’s “the only phone accessory on earth that’s truly hands free.” It works with all cell phones, even cordless phones, and doesn’t require batteries. But do you want to look like a total n00b?

Dennis Hopper is known for his iconic roles in Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, and Blue Velvet. He was an out-there bad boy on the counter culture edges, and became a new kind of Hollywood rebel.

There are lots of tributes about his unforgettable film rolls. But I want to honor his role a spokesman for broadband company Broadwing. Who else could have made a pitch for hosting and IP connectivity almost metaphysical and spiritual. Here are a few of the commercials I’m talking about:

Everyone not just waking up from a coma has seen Bill O’Reilly from 20 years ago blowing his top on Inside Edition. That was funny. Very funny. “There’s no words on it!” funny. Commentators and bloggers have had a field day. But taking the humor to a whole new, and very danceable, level is this remix of the blustery FOX host.
